Boots on the Ground

Is there something you want out of life that you haven’t seen come to pass? Are you at a place in your spiritual walk that you would like to be? Do you ever find yourself in a spiritual battle wondering what to do to win that thing? Have you ever considered what your role might be in that battle?

I found myself thinking about these questions today. When I think about these types of things my mind automatically goes to freedom and deliverance and things I’ve personally asked God to deliver me from. And then I hear the voices of people I know who minister in these areas…or maybe its God’s voice…reminding me that you have to walk out the things you have been delivered from. Once you have been delivered, you have to be diligent in moving your feet.

Today God seemed to be highlighting my feet as I was thinking about these things.  I thought about what God has said about the authority I have over Satan and where he is in relation to my feet.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. – Romans 16:20

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. – Luke 10:19

Have you ever stepped on a spider? Where you able to do that while sitting on your coach? Did you have shoes on or where you barefoot? I don’t know about you, but I am NOT stepping on a spider in my bare feet. I have also never stepped on a spider, or any other bug, while in a seated position. I suppose you could if it was on the floor near the edge of your chair, but you would still have to lift your foot up and put it back down on top of the spider. Sounds like common sense, huh?

I’ve asked God to take care of some things for me. I’ve asked Him to crush some things for me that are clearly not in his will for me or those I love.

This weekend I was blessed to hear Todd White speak at my church and part of his message was about the role God has given us on this earth. He talked about God sitting on his throne watching what His kids were going to do with the circumstances in their lives. He painted a picture of God cheering on His kids to carry out His works.

What if we aren’t where we want to be because we haven’t taken Him seriously about the authority he has given us? What if we aren’t overcoming the enemy because we aren’t moving our feet? What if we took God’s word seriously and picked up our feet and got moving? What if “walking it out” is about much more than walking down a path? What if “walking it out” with those feet covered in peace includes doing a dance on the enemy’s head?

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against [e]flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 [f]in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. – Ephesians 6:10-17
