Have you ever found a scripture that took your breath away and made your life richer the minute you read it? Here is mine for the day…

11 For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying,

“I will proclaim Your name to My brethren,
In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise.” – Hebrews 2:11-12

In the midst of the congregation I will sing Your praise…

In the midst of the congregation…

I will sing Your praise…

Can you just see Jesus standing next to you as you worship? Can you just imagine Jesus sitting next to you on that pew as you offer up praise to God? Can you see him standing next to the worship leader with His hands held high to God? Do you see him dancing along with the dancers?

Here, close your eyes and just imagine….imagine Jesus praising our Father with us…

Trading my change for HIS

I’ve just begun a bible study on the book of Hebrews. This week we were given a list of Psalms that are messianic song lyrics and asked which one we would be most prone to sing. I wanted to pick three of the five listed, but one really did strike me as significant for the season I find myself in.

I can look out my window and see evidence of the changing seasons. Leaves have changed from green to red, yellow and brown and are falling to the ground. The grass no longer needs to be mowed weekly. We are beginning to no longer have to check the weather to see if we need to grab at least a light jacket in the mornings. Although, in Texas, I’m not sure it’s ever wise to get dressed for the day without checking the weather first this time of year.

I don’t have to leave my house to see another changing of the seasons. My family has been in transition for several years and I’m beginning to realize that transition is just a way of life if you don’t intend to be stuck in a rut. If you have set your eyes on Jesus and want to continue growing from glory to glory, change is inevitable. If you have children and they are moving successfully thru the stages of their lives, your life will change. If you have children and they are exerting their independence, which they will and should, your life will change.

If you are like me and look past the day in front of you…or the minute…you may see things that you would like to change about yourself or those around you. You may see a better life just ahead. You may look at the areas of brokenness and know there is so much more and want to control the circumstances and the people around you to make those changes take place in your great wisdom and timing. :/ You may see someone you love headed for a cliff if they don’t stop and want to change them or their circumstances so they don’t fall or jump over the edge. Have you ever wanted to just remove that cliff altogether?

Have you ever wanted to CHANGE? Have you ever wanted to CHANGE someone else? Have you ever wanted to CHANGE your circumstances?

25 “Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 “Even they will perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27 “But You are the same,
And Your years will not come to an end. – Psalm 102:25-27 (NAS)

25 In the beginning, You laid the foundation of the earth

    and set the skies above us with Your own hands.
26 But while they will someday pass away, You remain forever;
    when they wear out like old clothes,
You will roll them up and change them into something new, and they will pass away.
27 But You are the same, You will never change;
    Your years will never come to an end. – Psalm 102:25-27 (Voice)

I read this scripture and knew this is the one I needed to set my heart to singing. I don’t know if you have ever considered that what is true in the natural is equally true in the spiritual realm. It’s a relatively new way for me to look at life too. But, it sure does open my eyes to the things beyond what I can see with my eyes. It opens me up to new understanding of the way God moves in and thru my life. As I read this scripture I realized WHO is in charge of the change. I knew that but that doesn’t stop me from trying to change myself or those around me. But if He changes them…they will be changed. He is the author of lasting change. He is the author of new life. He is…not me. One encounter with Him and I WILL be changed. One encounter with Him and they WILL be changed. And not changed into something I would change myself or others into, but something HE wants to change us into. Something new and more glorious.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

Music Monday: Couldn’t Say It Any Better

Today I’m going to let Kari Jobe do the talking for me on the blog. No, she isn’t my guest blogger. I wish! If anyone knows how to hook me up with a personal meeting with her that would be awesome. I’d love to meet her! If she has a good sense of humor, you can let her know she has quite a fan base who would like to know about her personal tattoo status. 😉

Until then feel free to join me where I am this evening…Kari has taken the words right out of my heart. I love the way she reminds me where to look on days like today.
