She stopped in her tracks as she passed by the wall of mirrors. It had been years since she had dared to stop for more than a glance. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to look this time, but something deep down inside told her it would be okay.
She knew the years since the last time she looked had been numerous. She knew life had been filled with both joy and sorrow. She was afraid of the wear and tear the pain may have caused. She wasn’t sure if she was ready to see it.
Slowly and cautiously she turned to face the mirror.
The years had formed lines on her face and a dusting of silver in her hair. As she stood there gazing into the eyes of the older version of herself she looked past the lines and saw something she had not seen before. It seems the years of joy and pain had done more than age her.
This time she saw grace and wisdom staring back at her. This time she saw a warm glow coming from a place that had once been cold and dark. As she stood there a soft smile formed on her face because she saw a reflection she had not seen before.
She saw His eyes of love.
