She thought fear was the strongest force in the atmosphere. It had convinced her with stories of death and darkness and despair. When she looked around her the proof was hard to deny. She heard of slavery and illness and famine and death. She knew of the despair of illness that takes a life or cripples the mind. She knew first hand of the brokenness that overtakes people and sometimes entire families and tribes. These things could not be denied and enforced the strength of the fear.
She had begun to fear the fear itself until one day she discovered that fear was a thief. She discovered that its power was not the strongest force. She discovered its power was a lie.
One day she took a step in the direction of her fears and discovered the Light just beyond the darkness. She discovered One with power to drive out the darkness. She discovered One with power to overcome the fear. She discovered a hiding place where fear could no longer touch her. She discovered the power of the One who had overcome the fear. She discovered the One whose shadow was darker than the darkest fear and was able to hide her away and fill her with light all at once. She discovered she could be filled with His brilliant light to dispel the darkness and remain hidden in His shadows where fear could not abide.
She discovered Perfect Love!
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. – 1 John 4:18
