Day 3: River Rats

Today’s adventure is brought to you by the letter R for River Rat. We headed in the opposite direction of the beach today for a canoe trip down the Blackwater River near Milton, Florida. Blackwater River is the only sand river in the United States. It sounded like something we needed to see since we are staying less than an hour away. What better way to see a river than a canoe trip on said river?

As you can see we had a great time. We did get a little close to the trees along the shore a time or two. Gracie and I may or may not have had our canoe headed backwards down the river a time or two. I’ll just say that Gracie is an excellent driver. I may or may not be better at driving a car. Okay, maybe navigating the direction of any form of transportation is a bit challenging for me. 🙂

The good news is no one dumped their canoe and we are home relaxing with another fun memory in the books.

Florida has some of the coolest rivers! Steve and I went tubing down one of them and canoeing down another while dating. He didn’t tell me until years later about the snake in the tree overhanging the river.

Justin didn’t tell me he saw a 2 ft snake in the river until after we were out and I’m thankful I didn’t know about snakes in the trees since we drove our canoe up under several of them. 😳
