Just look up…no matter what your terrain

My heart must be aching to be on a mountain today.  I hadn’t really pinpointed that until this scripture came across my news feed in Facebook this morning…

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:1-2 NIV

in other words…

1-2 I look up to the mountains;
    does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
    who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. – Psalm 121:1-2 The Message

There is nothing wrong with mountain top experiences.  There is nothing wrong with those moments that you are on top of the world in your spiritual journey.  There is nothing wrong with those times that your faith and your strength is so close to Him and your spirit is souring so high that even the peaks of those mountains pale in comparison to the heights you feel yourself soaring.  He gives those moments to us.  He is there with us in those moments.

BUT…

He is also with us in the valleys when all we want is to get back to the top of that mountain.  He is there with us when it seems the only place to go is up.  He is there in the land of dry bones and in the land flowing with milk and honey.

I needed this reminder today.  I didn’t even really know it…but He did.  He knows where we are.  He knows what we need.  He knows what we need to see when we look up.  He knows our longings and how they can be fulfilled.

I want to be where He is…

I want to look up and see Him…
