God, Dr. Seuss and My Fella!

Yesterday I was quoting Corrie Ten Boom and Mother Teresa.  Today it’s Dr. Seuss thanks to that fella of mine. 🙂  We attended a class last night on renewing your mind by a neuroscientist, Dr. Caroline Leaf, and the handsome fella walks away thinking about Dr. Seuss.  The funny thing is I SO got the connection.  I think my warped sense of humor may finally be rubbing off on him.  🙂  Yeah!!  No, the speaker didn’t look like Dr. Seuss.  It was the whole topic of thought patterns in the brain looking like trees and the Lorax movie that made the connection for him.  I love that fella!!

You have brains in your head,

You have feet in your shoes,

You can steer yourself

any direction you choose,

You’re on your own.

And you know what you know,

and YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…

Dr. Seuss

Last night I was reading thru the status updates on Facebook after the class and noticing how each one made me “feel”.  In light of the class, it was interesting to consider that there truly is something physical that happens to us depending on which thoughts we allow to hang around in our minds.  It’s funny that the Creator who knows how the mind, body and spirit actually work told us so much about our thinking.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.  Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worth of praise. – Philippians 4:8

We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5

When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul. – Psalm 94:19

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…. – Proverb 23:7

One final thought from the Dr…Seuss…”Think! You can think any THINK that you wish…”
